The Value of Endowments

The generosity of our donors provides the UC San Diego Libraries with the means to enhance scholarship and learning excellence. A significant percentage of the funding for acquiring these collections comes from individual contributions. Gifts to the UC San Diego Libraries benefit students and researchers, as well as thousands of educational institutions and individual citizens who use the Libraries' resources in person, online, and via interlibrary loan. In the coming years the generosity of Library donors will play an increasingly critical role in the ability of the UC San Diego Libraries to meet the research needs of our students and faculty.

Investment proceeds from endowments may be used for general or very specific purposes, depending on the wishes of the donor. Brief descriptions of some of our specific collection needs are available here. Listed below are some of the endowments that support the UC San Diego Libraries.

For further subject-specific information on the UC San Diego Collections critical needs, please contact Martha Hruska, Associate University Library for Collection Services (858) 534-1235, or by email.
