UC San Diego Libraries Tours

Geisel Library Tours

Named in honor of Audrey and Theodor Seuss Geisel, the Geisel Library building includes four of the nine UC San Diego Libraries: Arts, Mandeville Special Collections, Science & Engineering, and Social Sciences & Humanities. The tours cover the locations, services, and artwork in, and the architecture of, Geisel Library. They last approximately 30 minutes.

Walk-in Tours

Walk-in tours are offered throughout the year. No registration is necessary, but these tours are first come, first served and are limited to 15 participants. Meet your tour guide at the Information Desk (near the entrance of Geisel Library).

During Fall Quarter, they are offered on the following
Wednesdays
at 10:00 am:

October 14
November 11
October 28 November 25

If this time is not convenient, please print this Self Guided Tour to make your visit to the Geisel Library more enjoyable. The Self Guided Tour brochure is also available at the Information Desk. Visitors are asked not to go on Floors 4-8 of Geisel Library because they are the quiet study floors.

School/Group Tours

Groups must place a request for a tour at least a week in advance. For larger groups it is recommended that you submit a request as soon as possible. Submit a Tour Request.

Please Note

Geisel Library is not open for tours by groups of any kind during the first week of Fall quarter nor the last 2 weeks of the UCSD Academic Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. (See UCSD Academic Calendar for specific dates.)

These tours are intended to be general and not for specific UCSD courses. For tours of the Geisel Library or areas therein geared towards specific courses and conducted by subject librarians, UCSD faculty/staff can contact the appropriate librarian directly.

Other UCSD Libraries' Tours

Those wishing to tour any of these other UCSD Libraries may contact the desired library with inquiries about its tour policies.

Visitors to any of the UCSD Libraries are requested to respect the needs of the UCSD community by: minimizing interference; not blocking traffic; and keeping visits short.
