On October 28th at midnight, the UC San Diego Library will open a long-anticipated 24/5 Study Commons in Geisel Library thanks in part to a recent gift from the Alice G. Marquis Living Trust.
Study Commons hours will be:

| Monday - Thursday | 24 Hours | |
| Friday | Midnight - 6pm | |
| Saturday | 10am - 6pm |
This expands hours available for study in the Geisel Library by nearly 40%!
The Study Commons, which will be located on the main floor of Geisel Library’s East Wing (the main/second floor of the Science & Engineering Library), will have seating for over 500 and will stay open during the Fall, Winter and Spring academic quarters.
Amenities will include: large and small study tables, individual study carrels, comfy chairs, group study rooms, and computer workstations.
Overnight access will be limited to UC affiliates only – IDs will be required.
