Contestants are asked to bring an amazing sandwich or dumpling creation that represents a region or culture. It's time to get creative! You can follow a recipe or get inspired and create something original.
Our judges will select a winner based on theme, taste, and presentation. To participate you need to bring 3 servings (or one that can be divided into three parts) to the Seuss Room by 11:45am. If you can't be there that early, we can make arrangements to get the entry from you beforehand. You can make more or your creation to bring to the potluck, but you don't have to. The winning entry will be offered as a refreshment at a future LAUC-SD Diversity event.
Of course, the more people who bring food, the merrier. However, all are welcome, whether they bring food or not!
The committee will also be providing snacks for all who attend.
If ever a baseball player were deemed worthy of canonization, right fielder Roberto Clemente might be the one. After 18 distinguished seasons, the Pirate star with the astonishing throwing arm died in a 1972 plane crash while en route to deliver relief supplies to Nicaraguan earthquake victims. Clemente wasn't entirely virtuous--he had a temper and was sometimes given to pouting--but his altruism appears to have been a genuine product of his impoverished Puerto Rican upbringing.
