Academic Librarianship: A Possibility for You

rosa

Welcome to this site. You already know just how valuable the university's libraries are, but what about the people who make them so?

The university libraries' workforce represents diverse groups, indeed. Academic librarians, one such group, possess education and advanced training in a wide range of disciplines. As a result, academic librarians serve in a variety of university library environments-the social sciences, the arts and humanities, engineering, law, biology and medicine, just to name a few.

Whatever the discipline, academic librarians are leaders in information management. In this digital age, such leadership, particularly in higher education, provides many creative career opportunities and exciting challenges.

So, we invite you to explore the career of academic librarianship and the resources available at this site for pursuing that goal. If you have further questions, we encourage you to contact a UC-San Diego librarian. You may do so via email or by completing the Request a Mentor application.
