We would like to thank after-dinner speaker. Professor Seth Lerer, for making us laugh in a very scholarly way about the use of today's English language. His talk was the capstone to a splendid four-course meal prepared by ChileCo Catering and enhanced with wines from New Departure Wine Company and Wiens Family Cellars. For more information about Professor Lerer, please visit his UC San Diego faculty website.
Guests each received a copy of Professor Lerer's book Children's Literature: A Reader's History from Aesop to Harry Potter, which received the 2009 National Book Critics Circle Award, as a keepsake for the evening. In addition, several guests were able to enhance their reading and writing skills with gifts donated by the Levenger Company. We extend our heart-felt thanks to all who joined us for our sixth annual "Dinner in the Library."
