"When I first saw UCSD's magnificent new Biomedical Library, I was struck by its light and openness, its embracing of the digital age, and by its unique group study rooms. The rooms acknowledge that we learn from each other, and that the process of learning from each other continues through one's medical career. I am honored to endow a group study room in the Biomedical Library, knowing the conversations within it will reveal ongoing medical progress in directions we can only dream about today."
Dr. Joel Dimsdale, Professor of Psychiatry, UC San Diego
UCSD is a recognized world leader in medical research and health sciences—a reputation we could not earn and cannot maintain without an excellent biomedical library.
As the only research biomedical library in San Diego County, UCSD's Biomedical Library is an indispensable resource to the regions' dynamic biotechnology and life sciences communities, as well as to area physicians. As San Diego's life sciences industry, now third largest in the world, plays an ever-larger role in shaping the growth of the region and developing lifesaving innovations, a first-rate biomedical library is becoming even more critical to our community—and to the greater region.
Private funding will provide the means to expand and enhance our equipment, technology, and furnishings. Most critically, it will help us continue to support the region's substantial science and medical community as it makes new discoveries that will benefit individuals and populations the whole world over. As a thank you for your support, donor recognition opportunities are available and range from a listing of names on our Honor Wall for gifts of $1,000 or more, to naming the Library with a gift or pledge of $10 million.
We hope you will support the UCSD Libraries by using our secure online giving page or contacting us at (858) 822-4554 or LibrariesGiving@ucsd.edu.
