The Arts Library

"An artist's most precious quality is curiosity. It has kept me searching, experimenting and has never let me be complacent. UCSD's Arts Library is always a source of information and inspiration for me."

- Hilda Pierce, San Diego Artist

At UC San Diego, the arts flourish through our nationally recognized music and theater departments, our Center for Research in Computing and the Arts, our film studies curriculum, and an expanding Visual Arts Department. To support these programs and fuel artistic creativity and appreciation, the Arts Library offers students, faculty, artists, and art educators the most current resources, delivered through integrated media-sound, video, and images.

We completed the first phase of our newly-renovated Arts Library in September 2009.  This up-to-date, user-friendly space now has one consolidated service desk, state-of-the art listening and viewing stations, and a suite of digital labs where staff preserve and copy materials for use by students, faculty, and the community.  We are seeking funds to provide an endowment for our suite of digital laboratories, to build our critical group study space, and to relocate and extend our exhibition cases used by the Arts Library's highly-regarded community outreach program.

We hope you will support the UCSD Libraries by using our secure online giving page or contacting us at (858) 822-4554 or LibrariesGiving@ucsd.edu.
