Oceanside

With a population of almost 200,000 people, Oceanside is the largest city in North County.  As the north-most city on the coast of San Diego County, Oceanside borders the southern edge of Orange County.  Oceanside is often considered a military town because it houses the 125,000 acre Camp Pendleton Marine Corps and there are approximately 38,000 military personnel stationed there.

Oceanside serves as a popular destination for surfers and tourists, featuring 3.5 miles of pristine beaches and year round surfing competitions.    The city is home to the Oceanside Municipal Pier (the longest all wood pier on the west coast), the Oceanside Harbor, Harbor Town and Marina (offering activities such as jet skiing, scuba diving, boating, whale watching, fishing, sand volleyball, shopping and dining), the California Surf Museum  and the Oceanside Museum of Art.

What Staff are Saying:

  • Overall, our staff residents feel that Oceanside is a city lacking a nightlife, as well as entertainment other then the beach.  But, all do agree that Oceanside is a friendly neighborhood with a diverse array of residents and great access to shopping malls, grocery stores and pharmacies.

  • "close to beach, affordable, quirky community, close to my family
  • "The quirkiness... long time residents care about the community. A feeling of pride.”
  • "Lots of transient population (mostly military, but also low income)
