Pacific Beach
Pacific Beach is a neighborhood of San Diego, bounded by La Jolla to the north, Mission Beach and Mission Bay to the south, Interstate 5 to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. While largely populated by young people, surfers, and college students, the population is becoming older, more professional, and more affluent due to rising property and rental costs. "PB," as it is known as by local residents, is home to one of San Diego's larger nightlife scenes, with dozens of bars, eateries, and clothing stores.
What Staff are Saying:
- Staff said this community’s strengths were its pet and bike friendly attitude, access to the beach and great nightlife.
- Some staff felt the public transportation and entertainment/cultural offerings could be better. Many were not fond of the community’s noise levels and traffic.
-
“I live at the beach in north PB. The beach is definitely the big selling point. It keeps the climate very moderate and north PB is less of a party town than southern PB or Mission Beach, while rents are still in sight.”
- “Being a tourist destination, PB attracts a young party crowd. During the summer, this can get annoying - lots of parties, lots of drunks. Also not very diverse.”
