Tierrasanta Area

The community is referred to as "The Island in the Hills" by locals. The residential development of Tierrasanta began in 1960.  Tierrasanta has been fully built out since the early 1990s. This is a master planned community with no above ground power lines.  It is a family-oriented community made up mostly of middle class households.  The population is now approximately 30,000.  Most of the developed land is residential with small commercial centers scattered throughout the community. There is a considerable amount of natural open space as Mission Trails Regional Park comprises a good portion of the community. There are many meandering canyons throughout the area.
