Imperial Beach

Imperial Beach is the most southwesterly city in the continental United States. The City’s population is approximately 30,000 and the median home price is significantly less than the county’s. Flanked by the Pacific Ocean and South San Diego Bay, Imperial Beach is nestled between miles of uncrowded beaches, big surf, open space, and wetlands teeming with wildlife.  The world-renowned Tijuana Estuary is a popular place for bird watching and nature walks.  Local beaches are popular places for surfing, playing beach volleyball, and dog walks. Each August, Imperial Beach is home to the US Open Sand Castle Competition, the largest sand castle building competition in the United States.
