Barrio Logan

Adjacent to Downtown is Barrio Logan, one of San Diego’s oldest communities.  It became known as Barrio Logan after the Mexican Revolution of 1910, when refugees moved into the area next to the neighboring Logan Heights.  It is adjacent to Downtown, and contains the Naval Station San Diego, several shipyards and military facilities.

At the foot of the Colorado Bridge is the colorful Chicano Park, a public park created by residents in order to reclaim the neighborhood after much of the land was taken over by military and industry development in the 1970s.  Chicano Park serves as a place for the Mexican American Community to gather and features murals and other artwork.
