San Ysidro
Known as the “Gateway to the Americas,” San Ysidro is the southernmost community of San Diego located on the border with Mexico. The San Ysidro border crossing is the busiest international border in the world with over 50 million border crossings each year. Named after Isidore, the patron saint of farmers, San Ysidro started as an early settlement. In 1957, it was annexed to the City of San Diego. Today, it is divided by the Interstate 5 and 805 and contains commercial areas such as the Las Americas premium outlets.
