    DESCRIPTION

    The Internal Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing an internal communication strategy that is consistent and reflects the organization’s strategic vision, keeping all employees well-informed about the business of the Library, the individual units, and fellow staff members; and of facilitating the exchange of information among all units and the Library Administration. Act as the point of contact for all internal communication matters and actively collect and disseminate information relevant to the Library community. Create and implement a Library-wide communication action plan that supports the Library’s mission and goals.

    Set clear goals and implement metrics to evaluate the success of internal communications strategies and initiatives, analyze effectiveness of internal communications efforts, improve existing processes, and research new communication approaches. Responsible for recreating, monitoring, and maintaining the internal communications website. Develop various internal communication vehicles, including intranet, email, newsletters, and web pages. Work with all departments and employees to generate frequent and effective communications. Coordinate with Director of Communication on external communication and outreach programming issues.

    • This is a 60% Career position.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic communications plans and working with senior management on strategic planning and organizational change.
    • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of communications activities.
    • Experience with website development and management as well as managing content and/or production for websites.
    • Excellent software skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Desktop Publishing. Front Page, HTML and Web Development. Knowledge of Website design and editorial management.
    • Proven ability to make decisions, develop, and implement appropriate and creative solutions/suggestions.
    • Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization and to successfully establish and maintain relationships with partners, in- and outside the Libraries.
    • Proven ability to work independently and also to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.

      DESCRIPTION

      This position serves as a Systems Engineer in the Desktop Services Unit of the UCSD Libraries. Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain the libraries core staff workstation image. Routinely incorporate latest drivers, virus definitions, applications, and desktop configuration settings in accordance with defined requirements. Deploy scripts, applications, configurations, and various other packages, as needed, via AD. Technical implementer for Info-stations, Productivity Workstations, multiple Lab environments, and other Public Services Computing projects. Research, recommend, and coordinate the selection, testing, deployment, installation and implementation of new workstations and all related hardware, software and peripherals. Perform complex diagnostics, repair, and upgrade functions as directed by Unit Head. Analyze operations and systems and see that workstation hardware, software and peripherals are configured and utilized for optimal support of computing needs. Develop, alter and repair scripts and applications using Power Shell, Perl, batch files, and other programming and scripting languages as needed. Develop innovative, cost effective solutions and applies new and emerging technologies to new, existing and often complex problems. Troubleshoot operating system, network connectivity, and end-user problems. Maintain current knowledge of changing technology and standards in the areas of desktop computing, web browsers, plug-ins, public service computing, etc. and participate in the identification of and planning for new and expanded user services. Investigate and recommend alternate program or system design approaches.

      Develop procedures, documentation, and supporting tools for library wide implementation of new versions of anti-virus, workstation backup, imaging, email, office, browser, and other client software in coordination with other IT department and various library groups and individuals.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Demonstrated experience designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining advanced customized staff workstation builds in support of user functional requirements.
      • Extensive experience with key desktop management tools such as Windows Installer, MSI's, Systems Management Server, Active Directory, and other tools relevant to enterprise systems management.
      • Demonstrated experience with operating system internals, communication protocols and system utilities.
      • Demonstrated ability to improve processes by assessing procedures, seeking information and opinions, developing and implementing changes as appropriate. Facilitation skills sufficient to participate in and lead discussions.
      • Demonstrated communication skills for group activities including; expressing ideas effectively, seeking and respecting the opinions of others, active listening, and willingness to share ideas.
      • Skilled at clearly and concisely communicating, to both individuals and groups, provide detailed information over the phone, in writing, and in person. Interpersonal skills such as patience, tact, and the ability to negotiate.
