The simple path to the most convenient Assembly parking is to follow the instructions on the handy custom map from Fifteen at the Village (our meeting venue), which directs you from I-5 to the paid ($8) parking lot P357 on campus. (There is a visitor permit pay station at the southeast corner of lot P357, in addition to the one outside the nearby Visitor Information Center; use a credit card or exact cash for the fee.) At 9:00 am on a typical Friday you should find plenty of open, unreserved V, B, or S spaces in P357. If the lot is unexpectedly full, you should proceed to the Pangea parking structure; Pangea also has a visitor permit pay station good for V, B, or S spaces. Note that the price for parking at the Pangea structure will be $16.
UCSD parking will issue complimentary day permits to individuals holding annual parking passes at another UC campus, but you must get it only at the Gilman Campus Parking Office on the south side of campus and this may add 15-20 extra minutes to your travel time. To obtain a complimentary permit, present a valid UC ID and your current campus pass. Once you get your courtesy permit, ask for directions to the Pangea parking structure back on the north side of campus. As you drive closer to Pangea, you will find event signs directing you to the parking structure. In addition, there will be event signs guiding you along the short post-parking walk from Pangea to Fifteen at the Village, the location of the Assembly.
Airport ground transportation
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is served by several major airlines. Ground transportation connections are located on transportation plazas outside of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. From Terminal 1 you must cross the sky-bridge and take either the escalators or the elevators to street level. From Terminal 2 take the pedestrian crosswalk conveniently located outside the baggage claim area to access the transportation plaza. There are separate plaza lines for shuttles and taxis. A transportation coordinator at the head of the line will place you with the first available vehicle, unless you specify a particular company.
Taxi fare from the airport to UCSD and the hotels nearest campus will cost an estimated $45. Typical shuttle rates to UCSD and environs are $23-29 for a single passenger, with the second person in your party costing an additional $9.
Supershuttle provides a UCSD discount.
