Got a Favorite Librarian? Nominate Them for Nationwide Award

Do you have a favorite UC San Diego librarian? Nominate them for a chance to win $5,000!

The American Library Association’s 11th annual I Love My Librarian Award is now open for nominations through October 1. The award encourages library users to recognize the accomplishments of the exceptional public, school, college, community college or university librarians. Every year, 10 inspirational librarians are selected as winners and receive $5,000, a plaque and a travel stipend to attend the awards ceremony and reception in New York City.

If you can’t recall the name of a UC San Diego librarian, you can search our directory for a list of all librarians and subject specialists.

More than 18,000 nominations have been submitted by library supporters in the award’s first 10 years. A total of 100 librarians have won the award to date.

Each nominee must be a librarian with a master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association in library and information studies or a master’s degree with a specialty in school library media from an educational institution accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. Nominees must be currently working in the United States in a public library, a library at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or at an accredited K-12 school.
