Budget Cuts FAQ

The Library Hours Have Changed

The State of California's cuts to the University of California's budget have had a significant impact on the UC San Diego campus and the UCSD Libraries.  Funding reductions are requiring the Libraries to rethink how we provide resources and services, including the times library facilities can be open.

As a result, effective September 20, standard library hours of operation during the academic quarter will change as follows:

  • The Geisel Library Building will close at 12 midnight Sunday - Thursday and will close on Friday at 6 p.m.
  • The Biomedical Library will open at 12 noon on Sunday and will close on Friday at 6 p.m.
  • CLICS will open on Sunday at 12 noon.
  • The SIO Library will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday to Friday and closed on the weekends.

Effective September 26th, the Medical Center Library will be open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday to Friday and closed on the weekends.

All other library hours remain the same at this time, but are subject to change.

For complete library hours, go to http://libraries.ucsd.edu/hours-maps-directions/library-hours.html.
