The Arts Library is equipped to support viewing and listening of film and audio materials from our collections, including materials on reserve. This includes DVD (including BluRay), VHS, and audio CD. Screening of 16mm film, as well as use of Vinyl LPs and audiotapes, can be arranged by contacting the Arts Library staff at (858) 534-8074. All of our media stations can support up to four users. For larger groups we have Group Viewing & Listening Rooms available to book.
During Arts desk hours, UCSD and UC students, faculty and staff may use media stations with no time limit unless other UCSD patrons are waiting. Non-affiliates have access to two designated playback stations for a maximum of 2 hours per day per each non-affiliate. Priority is always given to UCSD patrons, especially when needing to view course reserve materials.
Viewing & Listening
The Arts Library service desk closes 15 minutes prior to the Geisel Library, and all listening equipment (headphones & remotes) must be returned by this time.
Group Viewing & Listening Room Guidelines
We have three group viewing & listening rooms for groups of 8 - 30 students. We can screen VHS, Blu Ray, DVDs & CDs, and with advance notice, LPs and cassette tapes. In consultation with the Film curator film prints may be screened in the Arts Library Seminar Room.
If the film to be screened is on course reserve or owned by the Arts Library, our staff will have the item available before your screening. It is important that we have advance knowledge of the screening in order to assure that the film is available and in the library. If you are providing the film to be screened, please make sure that our staff is aware of this at the time you schedule your screening.

The Arts Library offers digital reserve services for all audio reserves and select film reserves.
Digital audio and film reserves can be accessed in all the UCSD Libraries using public InfoStations as well as all campus networked computers (you will need a headset). These services may also be accessed off campus if a UCSD Proxy or VPN account has been established.
Please go to Course Reserves for access to specific course content. You will need a password from your course instructor for digital audio and film reserves.
