Many thanks to all those who participated in this year’s Dinner in the Library. We are grateful to all those who sponsored or attended the event which raised over $190,000 for library collections, services, and learning spaces. This year’s event, themed “Building for the Future,” highlighted the many ways the UC San Diego Library is evolving for the future, and the recently launched the Geisel Library Revitalization Initiative (GLRI.)
The 2015 Geisel Citation for Library Philanthropy was awarded posthumously to Ken E. and Dorothy V. Hill. Audrey Geisel University Librarian Brian Schottlaender presented the citation to their son Johnathan Hill who accepted on their behalf. Many thanks to pioneering librarian Sarah E. Thomas, PhD for her talk “Back to the Future with the Brave New Library”. Thomas spoke of the innovative ways libraries are evolving to meet the demands of 21st century users.
