With the help of alumni, students, faculty and friends, this multimillion-dollar Geisel Library Renovation Initiative will transform Geisel Library with spaces that are modern, collaborative, and technology-rich. The upgrades will further advance the learning and research of our exceptionally talented students and researchers.
A significant transformation of the 1st floor to create a high-end Media & Digital Scholarship Commons, repurpose key learning spaces, install new data and visualization technologies, and substantially upgrade furniture, carpeting, and finishes. The project will require $2 million total to support the following major upgrades:
Thanks to a generous gift from Audrey Geisel, the first stage of the revitalization initiative will focus on the 2nd (main) floor of Geisel Library—the most active learning space in the facility. This major renovation will include an impressive lobby entrance, a new Research Commons, a significant upgrade to the existing Learning Commons, an exciting new Café and Lounge, the implementation of new technologies, and other enhancements.
Geisel Library's top floor offers dramatic views of the campus and surrounding area. We envision this floor as an enhanced study lounge that can also be used for special events and cultural activities.
To be prepared for future changes in library learning spaces and to ensure that Geisel Library continues to serve as a high-caliber, cutting-edge campus facility in perpetuity, we are seeking named endowment(s) to fund ongoing enhancements to technology, spaces, furniture, carpeting, and finishes. With these resources, we will evolve alongside technology and student learning styles, ensuring the lasting and value of this center.
With your support, the iconic Geisel Library will always be at the heart of this extraordinary university, continuing to attract students, scholars, and community members to come inside to think, learn, dream, and create.
