Computing

Computer labs

The Library provides a variety of computing options. There are InfoStation computers, which can be used by anyone (no login needed), but do not have word processing or other office programs. Many locations also have full-service computer labs with Microsoft Office and specialized software and equipment, which are available to UC San Diego users via their ACS account login.

Please visit the ACS Lab page to browse a detailed list of computers, software, and printers in each library building and throughout campus.

Wireless connectivity

The UC San Diego Library is wireless-ready for UC San Diego students, faculty, and staff (you will be prompted for your ACS account login). In addition, the Biomedical Library Building provides network cards or laptops for UC San Diego students, faculty, and staff to check out:

  • Biomedical Library Building (BLB)
Users with their own laptops and wireless cards may access the network from BLB. The library also has five wireless-equipped laptop computers available for two-hour loan within the library for faculty, staff, and medical/graduate students.
Contact: BLB Front Desk, (858) 534-3253

If you are a frequent user of the campus wireless network, you may want to register your network card. This one-time registration allows your computer to be automatically recognized to use the wireless connection.
