About the Biomedical Library

The Biomedical Library supports the advanced research and instructional needs of UC San Diego's  world-renowned scientists, medical researchers, and clinicians at the School of Medicine, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, the UC San Diego Health System, and the Division of Biological Sciences. The largest library of its kind south of Los Angeles and a designated National Library of Medicine Resource Library, the Biomedical Library serves as the quintessential intellectual resource for San Diego's dynamic life sciences and biotech industries, area physicians, and healthcare professionals. Each year, more than 300,000 faculty, students, and visitors tap into the vast network of knowledge and information resources available at the Biomedical Library, including the latest information on consumer health, translational medicine, and patient care.  The state-of-the-art facility includes an impressive collection of printed books and journals and provides wired and wireless access to hundreds of specialized databases. In addition, the Library includes an Information Commons, and library staff offer a variety of workshops to enhance information literacy, including effective database  research skills and information management tools needed to support teaching, advanced biomedical research, and evidence-based patient care.
