Media Room Policy

The Media Room is equipped with a Windows computer, webcam and scanner for the purpose of creating and editing various forms of media: images, sound, video, screen-captures and web content.  The following applications are installed:

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, scanner

Sound editing

Adobe Soundbooth

Video editing

Adobe Premiere, After Effects

Screen capture    

Camtasia, Snagit

Web creation

Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash


Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Publisher

Important: bring your own storage media - USB drives, DVD, CD, etc. You cannot get to your UCSD network shares on the computer at this time.  Check out the key at the Biomedical Library front desk.

  • As of March 21, 2011, users must have a valid Room Reservation and checkout a key/DVD's from the BML Service Desk. The key/DVDs must be returned to the BML Service Desk immediately after the expiration of your reservation. Charges for overdue key/DVDs are $10.00 per hour.
  • the room may be reserved up to two days in advanced by UCSD students, staff and faculty with valid ID and a UCSD email address.
  • The maximum reservation length is three hours. 
  • The purpose of this space is for work on media projects and scanning. It is not intended for general web browsing or research.
  • Visiting scholars may arrange to use the room by having a UCSD faculty or staff member sign the room out.
  • The Media Room key and the two DVDs attached to it must be returned intact by the room's users following completion of their session.
  • The Media Room key is library use only and may not be taken out of the Biomedical Library for any time period. Checked out room keys will not be held at the service desk
  • Students using the Media computer cannot access their storage drives and profiles and will need to have storage media (CD, DVD or thumb drive) with them. These items are not available at the Help Desk
  • Room users are strongly encouraged to fill out the use log to help us understand how the room is being used.
  • All library policies are in effect in this room, with particular emphasis on the library's food and drink policy.
  • Users must clean up after themselves, and leave the room in good condition for the next users.

NOTICE: failure to follow these policies, or other applicable library policies, may result in a temporary or permanent suspension of access to this room and our group study rooms.

The goal of the Biomedical Library staff is that this room will be a clean and pleasant place to work. If you find that the room was left in poor condition by the previous occupants, report this immediately to the service desk.
