Document Delivery Services

Library staff will retrieve and scan articles from the Science & Engineering Library PRINT collection, at the request of UCSD faculty, staff and students. The Science & Engineering Library offers two document delivery services, Avanti and Desktop Delivery. These services are not provided for articles available electronically at UCSD, so users should consult ROGER before submitting a request. Requested materials are scanned and posted on a password-protected web server and requesters are notified via email when the articles are available for viewing/printing. Allow 1-2 working days for delivery.

Avanti

The Avanti service offers staff-mediated copying from the Science & Engineering Library PRINT collection for UCSD faculty, staff and graduate students in the Jacobs School of Engineering, Division of Physical Sciences and in the San Diego Supercomputer Center. Once you have registered for the Avanti service and obtained a username and password, you may email your requests to scilib@ucsd.edu with the subject line of "Avanti article request."

Desktop Delivery

UCSD faculty, staff and students who are not affiliated with the Jacobs School of Engineering, Division of Physical Sciences or the San Diego Supercomputer Center can also obtain staff-mediated copies from the Science & Engineering Library PRINT collection. Users can fill out the S&E Book & Article Request form or email us directly at scilib@ucsd.edu . A departmental budget number is required and a $3.50 fee per article (or chapter) charge will be incurred for requests up to 50 pages ($0.15 per page charge thereafter). Requests for items owned at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography Library and the Medical Center Library are free of charge.
