Getting Copies or Scans of Library Materials

A. Getting a copy or scan from the Scripps Library collection

  • Self-Service Scanning / Copying from the Scripps Library collection:  A book scanner (UCSD login name required) is available on the 1st floor of the Scripps Library which you may use to scan print materials with and save your scan as a PDF file.  Photocopy machines are available for your use on the 2nd floor of the Scripps library (south end), with charges assessed to your library copy card (more information on site).
  • Staff-mediated scanning from the Scripps Library collection ($3.50 per scan up to 50 pages): SIO Academics, Staff and Graduate students who would like to receive a scan of an article from PRINT journals or other items in the SIO Library collection may submit requests to the Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan department by filling out this form. A Departmental Index number is required and the cost is $3.50 per article (up to 50 pages/$0.15/page over 50). Article(s) are scanned and posted on a web server as black/white PDFs; you will be notified via email when they are ready.
B.  Requesting a copy or scan from the main campus UCSD Libraries collections (No charge)

  • SIO Academics, Staff and Graduate students who need scans of articles from print journals or other items held only on the main campus Libraries may submit requests to the Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan department at no charge by using this form. Public photocopiers are available in those libraries.
