Head, Social Sciences & Humanities Library
University of California, San Diego - Social Sciences & Humanities Library (2001 to present)
Provide leadership and vision for all collections and services, including reference and information services, development and delivery of collection resources, access services, interlibrary loan, course reserves, government information, Geographic Information Systems, maps, and the Social Sciences Data Collection. Provide strategic leadership, organizational planning, and management for a staff of 65 FTE. Develop and manage a department budget of $480K and oversees collections budget of approximately $1.5M. Serve as an advocate, spokesperson and leader for the library's mission and services at the campus and UC-wide levels.
Director, Access & Delivery Services
University of California, San Diego - Social Sciences & Humanities Library (1993 to 2001)
Provided leadership for the Social Sciences & Humanities Library. Managed the Interlibrary Loan unit, Library Express, an on-campus document delivery service, and the Corporate Programs program, the Library's fee-based service. Supervised a staff of 13 FTE plus 10 FTE students. Managed program budgets for two programs (Library Express - $189,000 and Corporate Programs - $245,000). Provided fiscal oversight for UCSD ILL services budget (approximately $400,000). Provided leadership in the development of The Circuit, a patron initiated requesting service, among four consortium members.
Co-Project Manager, Patron Initiated Requesting (PIR) Project
University of California - California Digital Library (1998 to 2001)
Successfully developed, tested, implemented, and launched "Request" in Melvyl and CDL linked databases. As part of the PIR team, developed UC-wide training programs to support the implementation of Request, presented at UC-wide Patron Initiated Requesting Update sessions, developed publicity materials for UC-wide use, and assisted in the development and review of fulfillment software "Request for Proposal."
Acting Head, Access Services Department
University of California, San Diego - Access Services Department (1992-1993)
Managed, planned, implemented, and evaluated services for the Access Services Department. Provided overall management responsibility for a staff of 32 FTE, 20 FTE of student assistants, with an operating budget of $70,000. Chaired Library Renovation and Construction Concerns committee, a librarywide public relations committee regarding construction.
Information Access Librarian

Provided complete review of interlibrary loan operations that resulted in major workflow changes. Managed interlibrary loan unit. Developed concept and implemented approved design of Library Express, the Library's on-campus delivery service. Managed the Current Periodicals, Microforms, & Newspapers unit. Supervised a staff of 11 FTE. Developed, implemented and managed a new Information Desk for Central University Library during construction.

Dual temporary appointments, charged with serving as consultation to the Interlibrary Loan unit of the Access Services and general reference librarian for Reference & Research Services. Implemented training programs, developed policies, publications, and new services. Within the Reference & Research Services Department served as project leader, designer, and programmer for special "information station" as a result of an Apple Education grant.
