Microform Collections and Services
The UCSD Libraries hold a number of unique collections available in microfilm, microfiche, or micro card formats. These collections include historical newspapers, periodicals, government documents and other materials of noted interest to UCSD researchers or in support of UCSD academic programs and curricula.
Use the UCSD Libraries Catalog, ROGER, to search for items and locate a call number. Most call numbers for microform materials begin with X, sometimes followed by additional prefix letters indicating format type. Examples follow:
|Microfilm||On 35mm or 16mm reels|
|X, XX, XEX
Non-transparent, cardboard cards (can only be viewed using the microform scanning equipment)
If an item you requested from another library (Interlibrary Loan) or from the Annex is in micro format, the item will be made available for you at the Geisel Front Desk for your use in the CPNM micro equipment area. If you need assistance using the micro readers or scanners, you must contact the SSHL Desk during regular staff hours or schedule an appointment here.
Micro-viewing, printing and scanning equipment is available onsite.
