The San Diego Book Arts will hold their Fourth National Juried Exhibition of works of art in book form at UC San Diego's Geisel Library from May 26 through July 8, 2012. Nearly 60 books—running the gamut from fine press books and mixed media art objects to sculptural works of art and woodcut works—will be featured in the exhibition, which is co-sponsored by UC San Diego's Mandeville Special Collections Library. While some of the objects on display adhere to the traditional book format, others employ the book as a canvas for art, merely taking their creative cue from the book format.

According to San Diego Book Arts, more than 200 artist's books were submitted for the exhibition, with only 60 pieces making the final cut. This year's juror, book artist Carolee Campbell, is the sole proprietor of Ninja Press—which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2004—as well as an Emmy Award-winning actress.

The opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 2, on the main floor of Geisel Library, adjacent to the Mandeville Special Collections Library. Interested members of the public are invited to the opening reception and the exhibit. For Geisel Library hours during the week and weekend, please call 858-534-3336.
