UCSD Campus Freezer Storage
Immediate short-term freezers on campus may be needed if wet books cannot be placed in commercial cold storage immediately. The PPS Refrigeration Unit maintains the 'departmentally owned' freezer equipment around campus and is the first contact point. The campus police also have after hours telephone numbers for emergency personnel and can be of assistance.
8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Physical Plant Referral Desk, 4-2930
4:30 p.m.-8 a.m. Central Utility Plant, 4-3250
Vacant, Lead Refrigeration Technician, 4-0923 or 4-2183
Steve Lattire, Refrigeration Technician, backup, 4-2927
Dining services and most laboratories on campus have freezer storage, but it should be noted that the likelihood of having food or specimens removed in favor of freezing books, no matter how severe the library disaster, are not assured.
Wet books should be properly packed and the boxes sealed, labelled and numbered.
