About the Reference Shelf

The Reference Shelf is a service of the UCSD Libraries. It is a collection of information sources such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, handbooks, manuals, guides, and other general resources selected and arranged for the use of the UCSD community. Other users on the Internet are welcome to browse the Reference Shelf. A small percentage of resources may be restricted by license to students, faculty and staff of the University of California; these will be flagged "UCSD only". This site was originally developed by Elliot Kanter in 1993, and is now maintained as a website by the UCSD Libraries' Reference Shelf Team:
