Academic Search Complete [UCSD Only]
This is a powerful database for a field like Communication, which explores ideas in many disciplines. Academic Search Complete searches not only general interest magazines, but a selection of scholarly journals in every field, from the arts and humanities to social sciences, business, science and technology. It indexes nearly 11,000 journals and other publications, with half of them including full text.

Communication Abstracts [UCSD Only]
For in-depth research, this is your route to a more comprehensive survey of the scholarly literature of Communication. It abstracts articles, reports, papers, books published from 1977-present, from a variety of publishers and research institutions in all areas of communication studies, including mass media, interpersonal communication and new communication technologies. International Encyclopedia of Communication PRINT ONLY
A 12 volume survey published in Summer 2008, covering all aspects of the interdisciplinary field of communication , with more than 1,300 articles written by leading scholars. Topics range from Advertising, Anime and Audience Research to Virtual Reality, War Propaganda and Zines. Each entry is followed by a list of recommended readings. It's not available online, but is conveniently located on the Reference Shelves in the Social Sciences and Humanities library, next to many other useful guides to research in this field.
