Anonymizer, Inc. provides online privacy, anonymity, and identity protection solutions. Lance Cottrell launched the privacy service, Anonymizer.com in 1995 while studying toward a Ph.D. in Astrophysics at the University of California, San Diego. Its solutions for home users include Anonymizer Universal, an online privacy protection solution to ensure user’s Internet activities remain private and protect their personal information; Anonymizer Total Net Shield, an online privacy protection solution that provides customizable privacy settings for users flexibility and control; and Anonymizer Nyms, which allows users to create an alias email address for sites that they visit and take control of their inbox. The company also provides various solutions for businesses, which include Anonymizer Streetwise that provides various security and anonymity solutions for various following initiatives, such as business intelligence/Web harvesting, investigations/fraud/research, and secure data communications. It offers its solutions for various business applications, which include business intelligence, such as market research, competitive/pricing intelligence, and mergers and acquisitions research; investigations/fraud for brand protection and intellectual property; and data communications for executive protection and internal identity protection. The company was founded in 1995.
