Boatracs

History

Established in 1990, San Diego’s Boatracs was the sole reseller of Qualcomm’s tracking software to the maritime industry. Boatracs’ core offerings are built on the QUALCOMM OmniTRACS® and QUALCOMM OmniVision™ satellite solutions. Mr. Michael L. Silverman formed Boatracs Inc. (Old Boatracs) and served as President until its merger with Advanced Remote Communication Solutions on January 12, 1995. Boatracs spun off of parent company AirlQ in December of 2009 and became privately owned. As of July 18, 2012 Boatracs operates as a subsidiary of Orolia, a French satellite company.
