History

e.Digital Corporation develops, markets, and sells electronic eVU mobile entertainment devices for the travel industry in the United States and internationally. It was founded in 1988 by Elwood “Woody” Norris previous founder of San Diego’s LRAD Corporation (1980).  It operates through two segments, Products and Services, and Patent Licensing and Enforcement. The company’s eVU mobile entertainment device is a portable audio/video player designed to play encrypted content for the airline and other travel markets. It also develops and sells accessory products, including e.Digital battery charging stations; and e.Digital content loading stations to upload graphical interfaces and content to multiple players. The company markets and sells its eVU devices and accessory products to corporate airline customers directly and through value added resellers. In addition, it provides content integration, graphical user interface customization, warranty, technical support, and related services. Further, the company licenses and enforces its Flash-R portfolio of patents related to the use of flash memory in portable devices. Additionally, it develops new intellectual property related to context and interpersonal awareness systems, and data security and other technologies. The company was formerly known as Norris Communications, Inc. and changed its name to e.Digital Corporation in January 1999. e.Digital Corporation was founded in 1988 and is based in San Diego, California.
