VPN: Virtual Private Network

To use the VPN, select your operating system below to find out how to register for VPN service, download the client software, and configure the client.

Web interface installation

Conventional installation

The VPN will "authenticate" you for library resources - you don't need to use the Proxy Server if you're using the VPN.

Pros

The VPN is the only way to use SciFinder, Beilstein/Gmelin or EndNote Connect from outside UCSD.

Cons

The VPN can be more complex to set up, particularly if you already have a firewall on your computer or network.
