Need a break from long hours of studying? Give your mind a rest with one of our de-stress activities.
Shared puzzles have proven very popular with students. Stop by and complete a lot, or a little, of the puzzle. Puzzles are available in both Geisel East & West (2nd Floor), and are rotated regularly.
Chess and Scrabble tables are positioned near the windows in the Geisel East Learning Commons. Special thanks to the Friends of the UCSD Libraries for the gift of the chess table in 2002, and to R.O.P. Cabinetmaking for creating it.
Coloring pages, mazes, and word searches are available in the pamphlet rack near the service desk. Crayons and colored pencils are available by request at the nearby service desk.
Three large foam rollers are available in the Geisel East Learning Commons for stretching and desk exercises. A handout showing several uses for the foam rollers is available in the pamphlet rack near the service desk, while details on a wealth of others can easily be found online.
During Finals Week, we offer an expanded ‘Stress-Free Zone’ in the Geisel East Learning Commons. The activities above are available then, along with many others. Limited snacks are also provided. Watch for details near the end of each term (excluding summer).
Too much sitting? Take a walk, in place, with your book or laptop. Two walkstaions in Geisel East Learning Commons feature low-speed treadmills and adjustable height tables.
Know of other items you’d like us to offer? We’d love to hear your ideas. Send questions, comments, and suggestions to LearningSpaces@ucsd.edu.
