Open to current UC students, faculty, and staff only. Valid UCSD ID card required during overnight hours. On request, users must show valid UCSD-issued ID card to library staff, campus police, or other campus security officers to verify eligibility. Users without valid UCSD-issued ID card must leave the building until regular library hours resume.
Main/2nd floor of Geisel's East Wing only (2nd floor of Science & Engineering Library). After midnight, eligible users may enter through main entrance and proceed to East Wing. Access prohibited to closed & staff-only areas.
Basic safety & security is provided overnight. Other library services are not provided. Security staff will report equipment problems, but cannot provide computer, printing, reserves, or research assistance.
Overnight hours begin at midnight (00:00) and end at 7:30 a.m. (07:30) Monday through Friday. Available during fall, winter, and spring academic quarters only (excluding campus holidays). Policies include any additional overnight hours or areas offered during final exam periods.

Seating available for about 500, including 100 computer workstations as well as large & small study tables, individual study carrels, comfortable chairs, group study rooms. Electrical outlets, copiers, and scanner also available.

Overnight Study Commons is distinct from the S&E Library. Report non-emergency problems related to Overnight Study Commons to Overnight_Non-Emergencies@ucsd.edu, rather than to S&E staff.
