The UC San Diego Libraries changed printing/copying card systems effective September 2009.
This change of equipment and account based system called IACCESS will allows current UC San Diego students, faculty, staff and affiliates to swipe their Campus Photo ID cards in the libraries for printing and copying. Index numbers already authorized on ID cards and department copy cards can be used in the libraries on copy machines, printers, and micro format printers.
Departments will no longer need to add value or purchase copy cards, but can now give existing card holders access to an authorized index number.
Benefits
- Familiarity: Both campus and library equipment will use the same Imprints card access system and card readers.
- One Card: Students, Faculty, Staff and Affiliates may use their Campus Photo ID to access departmental index numbers and personal print accounts and no longer have to carry another card to use the library equipment.
- Value is not stored on the cards: Lost or stolen cards can be cancelled online by the card holder. Imprints can move any personal print account value and index number authorization to a newly issued card issued by Student Business Services.
- Recharge simplicity and control: Departments only pay for copies and prints made and no longer have to buy library debit cards with cash value, and limits and expiration dates may be placed on index number access to limit the range and time for use of department funds for print and copy activities..
- Access simplicity: Index numbers currently associated and authorized on Campus Photo ID cards and department cards will automatically work on the library system, no additional steps are needed.
