Information for Institutions

Mission Statement 

The Resource Sharing Unit supports the Library’s mission to provide the UC San Diego community information resources and services to achieve educational and research objectives.  Through the Library’s distinguished collection and advanced digital resources, the Resource Sharing Unit provides timely and accurate assistance, while also offering exceptional customer service.  Although the unit has been lauded for its excellence in service by the campus community, it also strives to provide equivalent service to its regional, national and international customers.

General Policy

Loans and copies are provided to other academic, public, government, and non-profit libraries according to the national and international Interlibrary Loan codes. For-profit institutions and commercial document delivery vendors are not eligible for these services.

Submitting Requests

OCLC and/or Docline is the preferred method for sending requests. If you do not have access to OCLC or Docline, complete an ALA form and send it to ill@ucsd.edu.

Fees

In general loans are $11.00 for libraries or institutions within the state of California; $20.00 for loans to libraries outside the state of California; $20.00 to $40.00 for loans outside the United States. Photocopies range from $11.00 to $20.00. Fees may vary depending on shipping method and distance. To view the current fee schedule, click here.
