My ILL Requests

Details and Instructions for Using the My ILL Requests Service

Note: When an ILL item's due date in My ILL Requests differs from that stated in your Roger record, the due date in Roger should be observed.

How to Login to My ILL Requests

Log into My ILL Requests

We apologize that you will need to log into My ILL Requests, even if you have already logged into your Roger account. It is not currently technically possible to prevent this, and we regret the inconvenience to you.

  • User ID: Your User ID is your UCSD Libraries' Library Card/Account Number. Your library card/account number begins with "21822" and is found on the back of your ID card. The 14-digit number must be entered without spaces.
  • Password: Leave this blank; no password required for UCSD.
  • Authentication Service: Choose UCSD only.

Login Failure Messages:

"Authentication declined: Borrower is blocked from making Requests"

This means that you have overdue and/or billed Libraries materials. Visit "My Library Account" in Roger to view which items are overdue. Returning, renewing, and/or paying your bill should unblock your My ILL Requests account. Contact the nearest UCSD Circulation Desk for assistance, as needed.

"Authentication declined: Your Borrower ID and/or Library Catalog pin# is invalid."

Review and follow the instructions on "How to Login to your ILL Request Account" at the top of this page.

After clicking on "Submit", your account information will display and your name should appear in the upper left. You can choose to sort your requests by Author, ILL No., Title, or Need By Date. You can display up to 20 requests per page. We suggest sorting by ILL No./descending, which will generally display the most recently submitted requests at the top of the list. After your choices are set, click "Submit."

Only "active" interlibrary loan (ILL) requests will display. These include requests which are being processed, pending at potential supplier locations, shipped by a supplier but not yet arrived at UCSD, received at UCSD, or returned by the patron but not yet checked in at the supplying library location. Requests submitted through any of the UCSD ILL Web Request Forms require special handling by staff and may not display in your ILL account for several days. Should you have questions regarding these or any of your ILL requests, please contact the appropriate ILL unit. For details regarding BML/MCL requests, please see this section.

If you have no active ILL requests, the following will display:

A typical request in your list will look like this:

Status Definitions

The "Status" of your requests will be displayed in the record. Following is a list of possible statuses and what they mean:

  • In process: The request is in the process of being fulfilled; potential suppliers are being sought by UCSD.*
  • Received: The request, whether a copy (articles) or a loan (books), has been received by a UCSD ILL Unit.* Loans will display the established due date. Copies, whether delivered electronically or in print form, will display in your list and remain available for viewing for 30 days from the received date. You may print the electronic copies, if you wish.
  • Returned: The loan request has been reported by a UCSD ILL Unit as returned by the patron. The record will disappear from your list when the owning library has received and formally "checked in" the item.
  • Renewal pending: A UCSD ILL Unit has formally submitted a renewal request to the owning library on your behalf. A new due date will appear here, once obtained, if the request is approved. You will also receive an email with your renewal status, if you provided your email address when you made the renewal request.
  • Recalled: The owning library has formally recalled your loan request. Please return the item immediately.
  • Canceled Pending: A UCSD ILL Unit has formally submitted a cancellation request to the supplying library on your behalf.
  • Lost: This item has been reported as lost (i.e., lost in the mail or reported lost by the requester). This does not mean that the supplier is unable to supply the material because its copy has been declared lost.
  • Overdue: This item is overdue, please request a renewal or return the material as quickly as possible.

* Please note that requests from outside the UC system may take 7-10 business days to arrive, while UC-owned items may take 2-4 business days to arrive.
