"Countrywomen: It is no secret to us the danger which our brothers in Bilbao face, the same which [we] faced on the 7th of November, when the fascist hordes of Hitler and Mussolini wanted to take our Madrid, so we, who already know the sacrifices which this [event] cost and is costing us, we are not able to allow that our sisters from Vizcaya suffer as much as we have suffered, but for this, what can we do? Not to remain impassive but to ask the Government and to our countrymen from the Unions that they give us facilities so that we may be incorporated into the workforce, that they not see in us a being inferior to them and that we are able to do something to help win the war. They know well, how the women of Madrid have known to withstand all the sacrifices that the war has imposed on us, and how they have known to incorporate themselves at the front, at hospitals, and in the workshops in the first moments of the war, in order to prepare clothes so that nothing is lacking for our soldiers. If so many displays of heroism have been given, and that they are disposed to continue fighting, we, women, demand a place in the workforce so that our countrymen can join the brigades of reserves which are so necessary [to] our Army, because in this way, attacking in the fronts of Madrid, we are helping Euzkadi, there where fascism will be smashed, the same as it was smashed on the 7th of November at the gates of Madrid."
