Abstract
Meeting minutes and agendas (1988-1999) of the UCSD Design Review Board, an advisory board to the UCSD Chancellor charged with the review of facilities design and major landscape projects to insure that they are architecturally appropriate and consistent with the principles of the UCSD Master Plan. Materials include meeting minutes, agendas and supporting materials, especially, planning documents.
Administrative History
The UCSD Design Review Board was constituted in September 1988 with a membership of four architects; the chair of the Campus and Community Environment Committee; a rotating administrator; the Associate Vice Chancellor, Resource Management; and a faculty representative named by the Academic Senate.
Projects are presented to the Design Review Board by the executive architect, assisted by Facilities and Design and Construction or Campus Planning staff. "Typically, each project will be presented three times: (1) when the executive architect is in the initial stages of considering solutions, (2) when the executive architect is prepared to present design alternatives and a recommended solution, and (3) when the schematic design is near finalization, but changes are still possible."
The Design Review Board process must be completed before projects are submitted to the Regents for design approval.
