Reference Services

The Reference Desk provides assistance to those doing research in the social sciences and humanities, including government information.

Reference staff members provide guidance in locating library materials, and in selecting and using online catalogs and databases, as well as printed indexes, abstracts and research guides.

The Reference Desk is located on the entrance level of the West Wing in the Geisel Library building. Enter the Geisel Library building; turn left and continue into the next room. The Reference Desk is located on the right as you cross the bridge into the West Wing.

Reference questions requiring more time or special expertise may be referred to a research consultation with a subject specialist.

You can reach us in person during our Reference Desk Hours. To reach us by telephone call (858) 822-0450 for reference assistance during our open hours. To reach us by e-mail, UCSD students, faculty and staff may submit questions via our Ask A Librarian website.
