Welcome Week at S&E

Here’s what’s happening at the Science & Engineering Library during Welcome Week.

The S&E Library is in the east wing of Geisel Library (through the main gate, then take 2 right turns). No registration is required for any of these activities.

There’s a Science & Engineering Library??!! – S&E Library Instruction Room
(For new and returning students at all levels)

Tuesday, Sept 25 – 10:00-11:00am
Wednesday, Sept 26 – 2:00-3:00pm
Thursday, Sept 27 – 2:00-3:00pm

Yes! Come to this brief workshop/tour for an introduction to your Science & Engineering Library. In the hands-on workshop portion, you’ll learn what’s different about an academic science library and have a chance to try out some of our electronic resources. The tour will give you the lay of the land in the S&E Library. After the tour, stay for refreshments.

Jump Start Your Chemistry Research – S&E Library Instruction Room
(For new researchers, as well as experienced faculty, staff and graduate researchers who want a refresher)

Monday, Sept 24 – 1:30-3:00pm
Wednesday, Sept 26 – 9:30-11:00am

This hands-on workshop will introduce you to the rich collection of electronic and print resources available at UCSD for your chemistry & chemical engineering research, including: SciFinder Scholar, Web of Science, Compendex and Beilstein/Gmelin. From selecting the best databases to getting the desired books, articles and data–we’ll cover it all.

Jump Start Your Engineering Research – S&E Library Instruction Room
(For new researchers, as well as experienced faculty, staff and graduate researchers who want a refresher)

Tuesday, Sept 25 – 1:30-3:00pm
Thursday, Sept 27 – 9:30-11:00am

Come to this hands-on workshop to learn about the wealth of library information resources for Engineering researchers: article databases like Compendex, Inspec, Engineered Materials Abstracts, and electronic resources like ENGnetBASE, Knovel…and MORE!

Come in for a tour and learn where to find books, computers, study areas, power for your laptop, Legos and puzzles, friendly help, and much more. Join us for refreshments and conversation at the end of the tour.
