Welcome Week @ S&E

Want to tour the S&E Library or learn more about our services and resources?  We have tours and workshops scheduled all week:

  • No advanced signup required. Just show up at one of the times.
  • Tours meet at entrance to Science & Engineering Library, in the East Wing of Geisel Library.
  • Workshops are in the Science & Engineering Library Instruction Room, Room 2093

Science and Engineering Library Tours 

Come in for a tour and learn where to find books, computers, study areas, power for your laptop, the reference desk candy dish, friendly help, and much more. Join us for refreshments and conversation at the end of the tour.

There’s a Science & Engineering Library??!!

Yes! Come to this brief workshop/tour for an introduction to your Science & Engineering Library. In the hands-on workshop portion, we’ll cover important information like renewing books online and accessing electronic resources from off-campus. The tour will give you the lay of the land in the S&E Library. Afterwards, stay for refreshments. (For new and returning students at all levels.)

Jump Start Your Chemistry Research

In this hands-on workshop Chemistry Librarian Teri Vogel will introduce you to the key information resources for Chemistry, Materials Science and Chemical Engineering research, including: SciFinder Scholar, Web of Science, and Compendex as well as e-book collections like Knovel and CRCnetBASE. From selecting the best databases to getting the books, articles and data you need—we’ll cover it all. (For new researchers, as well as experienced faculty, staff and graduate researchers who want a refresher.)

Jump Start Your Engineering Research

Come to this hands-on workshop where Engineering Librarian Dave Schmitt will get you started with the best information resources for Engineering researchers: article databases like Compendex, Inspec, Engineered Materials Abstracts, and electronic resources like ENGnetBASE, Knovel…and MORE! (For new researchers, as well as experienced faculty, staff and graduate researchers who want a refresher.)

In this hands-on workshop, Physics Librarian Mary Linn Bergstrom will help you explore the library resources to help with your physics research, including premier databases like Inspec, Web of Science and arXiv, plus e-book collections like Knovel, and more. (For new researchers, as well as experienced faculty, staff and graduate researchers who want a refresher.)
