Description

This collection consists of ocean and atmospheric variables collected from various platforms and instruments over 71 years over Atlantic Canada and the Grand Banks. Data comes from the International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Dataset (v.3.0.0), ECMWF Reanalysis v5 (ERA5), GOES-16 satellite, ceilometer data collected by Sebastian Hoch in Sable Island, Instrumented Boeing Liquid Robotics SV3 Wave Gliders, AOML Surface Drifter Currents, and Ocean Reanalysis System 5. In this study, we present findings from a 71-year climatological analysis covering a broad range of spatial and temporal scales of marine fog over this region. Data has been collected from 1950-2020, and used for climatological analysis of marine fog and the interaction between the air-sea interface. This collection contains the processed data and .m source code to generate Figures 2-10 from Formby-Fernandez et. al (2024). Corresponding README files are included in each zip file for each figure, along with any additional .m files needed to produce the figure. Each code can be run as is.
