The UC San Diego Library is recognized as having a world-class oceanography collection.  Use the online guides, links, and resources below to discover the print and digital collections and resources in oceanography, earth and marine sciences, intended for the support of research at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the world's premier oceanographic institution, researchers at the University of California and at other oceanographic institutions and centers around the world.

  • HathiTrust - Browse & search the HathiTrust Digital Library for access to over 111,740 items digitized from the former Scripps Library collection. This digitized collection in HathiTrust includes books, technical reports, and series in oceanography, earth & marine sciences, plus Scripps Institution of Oceanography publications.   • Scripps Institution of Oceanography Biographies & Memoirs - Links to several biographies, autobiographies and memoirs of Scripps' luminaries and distinguished oceanographers.
  • California Explores the Ocean - a collaborative project to digitize a selection of primary source materials from the former Scripps Institution of Oceanography Library and Archives and the San Diego Historical Society.  This website facilitated searching and discovery of archival manuscripts, texts, images, and sound recordings related to ocean research conducted at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, in addition to historical materials on ocean resources owned by the San Diego History Center. This website was originally created in 2001 and revised in 2020, without the addition of new content, use the links in the "About" section to find  more information on these topics.
