Tachyon Networks Inc., formerly known as Tachyon Inc. has been an innovator in the field of satellite broadband communications since the company was founded in 1997. Tachyon took its name from a hypothetical particle that travels faster than light. It was co-founded by Jeremy Guralnick and John Koehler—Yale-economist and CIA deputy director. In the mid-1990s, Koehler also served as COO of the San Diego-based Titan Corp. Tachyon’s satellite network was launched in 2000. Direct competitors include ViaSat and Hughes Network Systems. Today Tachyon remains headquartered on Carroll Park Drive in San Diego.
