Summary

Rodríguez Campoamor was born in Madrid on September 12, 1920. Her father was a laborer and a member of the Communist Party. He fought on the republican side and died during the Spanish Civil War. Carmen joined the Communist Party at the age of sixteen. After the war she engaged in underground political work. She was detained and spent a month and a half at Ventas, a prison for women. Her husband was detained later and was incarcerated for seven years, finally released in 1959. Her daughter was detained twice: the first time when she was only seventeen having protested for her father's release, for which she was expelled from her university. The second time she was arrested the daughter was incarcerated at Carabanchel. Rodríguez still attends Communist Party meetings
